In the second session, Atsumi, General Manager of Roland DG’s Future-Lab, delivered a presentation titled “From Plan to Do! Driving Digital Transformation in People and Organizations Through Production Site Improvements.” Building on the prior lecture about promoting digitalization, Atsumi introduced how Roland DG’s proprietary production systems can support digitalization efforts.

The presentation highlighted the evolution of Roland DG’s products and technologies, which were developed to enhance differentiation and competitiveness. By integrating these advancements, the company has achieved efficiency improvements, as demonstrated with concrete metrics and outcomes.
Attendees also learned about Roland DG Assemble, a solution grounded in over 20 years of our production expertise, embodied in the Digital Yatai system*. Atsumi emphasized the system’s unique ability to support high-mix, low-volume manufacturing operations.
Atsumi highlighted its unique features, such as the ability to bridge analog and digital processes, and demonstrated its strengths with implementation examples where it has helped businesses expand their value.

Atsumi also shared insights from our development journey, discussing trial-and-error experiences such as prioritizing visualization that ended up being underutilized. This led to the advice that prioritizing support for both operators and managers is key to successfully introducing digital tools.

*Digital Yatai: Developed independently by Roland DG in 2000, this system supports the digitization and improvement of production sites, achieving benefits such as going paperless, incorporating IoT, reducing workloads, shortening lead times, and ensuring quality reliability.
