Roland DG participated in TCT Japan 2025, The Home of 3D Printing and Additive Manufacturing Intelligence in Japan, which was held at Tokyo Big Sight from January 29 to 31, 2025. At the event, we unveiled our newly announced powder 3D printers, the PB-600 and PB-400, for the first time.
Introducing a new approach to high-value 3D printing
TCT Japan is one of the largest exhibitions in Japan dedicated to 3D printing and Additive Manufacturing and features a wide range of exhibits, including 3D printers, 3D scanners, materials, and software.
At the exhibition, we introduced our new powder 3D printers, the PB-600 and PB-400, which were officially announced on January 29. Our powder 3D printers produce ceramic 3D objects by ejecting liquid binder from a print head and layering dedicated artificial ceramic powder while fixing it layer by layer. This breakthrough technology makes it possible to produce complex shapes and structures that were previously achievable only by highly skilled artisans.
Since this is an entirely new product category for us, we designed our booth to highlight its value through samples, videos, and information panels. Powder 3D printing allows for the creation of intricate designs, making it ideal for artistic expressions in arts and crafts, as well as interior decor, ceramic panels, and walls. The displayed samples demonstrated fine patterns and hollow structures, highlighting the exceptional finishing quality achievable with this technology.

Expanding application possibilities
As powder 3D printers capable of producing ceramic objects are rare in the market, the Roland DG booth attracted significant attention. One of our representatives noted, “We received great feedback, especially from interior designers and artists, who appreciated the texture and premium artistic quality.”
As our first-ever powder 3D printing technology, we initially anticipated significant interest from interior and product designers. However, in addition to designers, we also received inquiries about potential industrial applications leveraging ceramic material’s heat resistance and insulating properties. This broadened our perspective on the range of applications for this technology.
Our dedicated artificial ceramic powder, which achieves less than 1% shrinkage during firing, ensures high dimensional accuracy, making it suitable for applications that demand precision.

Exploring the possibilities of creation
As most 3D printers at the exhibition were designed for metal or resin materials and 3D printers capable of creating ceramic objects are still rare, our booth drew significant attention. Due to space limitations, we were unable to showcase the actual printers, but our booth attracted a constant stream of visitors eager to see the samples and learn more about the technology.
Visitors ranged from designers to engineers, many of whom expressed interest in the powder 3D printer, saying, “This is the first time I’ve seen a 3D printer that can create ceramic objects.” Many attendees also touched the samples to inspect their texture and quality. Additionally, some visitors asked about strength, precision, and specific usage methods, further emphasizing the high level of interest. Comments such as “This is exactly what I needed” and “3D printing has come this far” reinforced the positive reception of our technology.
One of our representatives shared their thoughts: “As a Japanese company launching a powder 3D printer, we provide customers with a sense of trust and reliability. The attention and recognition we received at this exhibition full of 3D printing innovations will serve as a strong foundation for future growth.” With this exhibition as a starting point, we will continue to introduce innovative solutions to the industry.
