Hamamatsu, Japan, July 10, 2018 – Roland DG Corporation, a leading manufacturer of wide-format inkjet printers and 3D devices worldwide, today announced that it will once again be a key sponsor of FAB14, the 14th annual meeting of the global Fab Lab community, to be held in Toulouse, France from July 16 to 22, 2018.
Operating under the concept “Make, Learn, Share,” a Fab Lab is an open workshop equipped with a variety of digital fabrication tools that provide members with the unprecedented ability to explore and develop their creative ideas and share information and know-how as part of a global fabrication community. The Fab Lab Conference is an event held in a different city around the world each year to unite members, educators and fans from more than 1,200 Fab Labs around the world with a broad scope of activities, including symposiums on digital manufacturing, workshops aimed at collaborating to resolve specific societal issues, and sessions for sharing case studies and information on new initiatives being implemented at local Fab Labs.
Roland DG has sponsored the Fab Lab conference since 2013 based on the common goal of using digital technology to expand the creative potential of fabrication and develop new fields of value. As a fabrication pioneer, Roland DG’s compact, easy-to-use and affordable inkjet printers, cutters and milling machines have been utilized to bring concepts and ideas to life for more than 30 years.
Recently, there has been a growing movement around the world aimed at boosting innovative environmental, manufacturing and creative solutions to the world’s problems and the concept behind Fab Labs is drawing increasing attention as a way of achieving this goal. Roland DG France SAS, a group company of Roland DG, will hold workshops at FAB14 demonstrating the capabilities of Roland DG’s cutting-edge products, including the VersaUV LEF-200 UV-LED flatbed inkjet printer, VersaSTUDIO BN-20 desktop printer/cutter, METAZA MPX-95 photo impact printer and LD-80 laser foil decorator. Workshop participants will be invited to bring their favorite items and discuss how to add creative touches before actually creating them with the use of Roland DG products.
Gregory Bilsen, Roland DG France SAS president, explained, “Roland DG has supported the initiatives of Fab Labs around the world for many years with products like milling machines and vinyl cutters that are recommended as tools for Fab Labs. At FAB14, we will have an extensive range of Roland DG’s digital tools available to show participants how easy it is to bring their creativity alive. We look forward to giving people the opportunity to discover the joy and exhilaration of watching their ideas come to life.”
