"As service engineers, I think we've done a good job of raising customers' expectations and we keep trying to find ways to exceed those expectations."
Please tell us a little about your background as a service engineer.
I started with Denco Sales over 30 years ago. As digital production equipment started to impact our business, I found that I had a natural aptitude for understanding, using and repairing the equipment.
How do you like working on Roland DG products?
Once I came to know Roland DG products, I was immediately impressed with the engineering that goes into them. Once I became acquainted with people at Roland DGA and how they do business, I was totally sold on Roland DG as a product that I could recommend to our customers.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I love being able to work with our 12 other service engineers to help our customers across the Western United States to be more productive and improve their craft. Being able to get a customer up and running again on their mission critical production equipment so that they can de-stress about getting jobs done is always a great feeling. I get satisfaction from being able to help a customer bring a piece of equipment back on line that is crucial to operating their business or, even better, prevent it from failing in the first place.
What are your goals?
As service engineers, I think we've done a good job of raising customers' expectations and we keep trying to find ways to exceed those expectations. My goals are to benefit our customers, benefit our vendors, benefit Denco Sales and to have fun.
And finally, how do you relax when you're not working?
While I enjoy working in a digital world, my favorite pastimes are pretty old school. I enjoy playing music – mostly piano, guitar and trumpet – woodworking, wood carving and camping.
In the last part of this series, the EMEA finalist talks about his experiences.
